New York, NY - July 16, 2007 In celebration of the 81st anniversary of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade® in 2007, Macy's has again selected MUSIC FESTIVALS as their partner in the creation of the Second Annual Macy's Great American Marching Band. The Band, comprised of four students from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia, will lead off the 81st Parade in New York City, NY.

The Macy's Great American Marching Band will be comprised of representatives from every state. We have selected 95% of the band but we still have some openings.

While we have applicants from almost every state, not a single high school student from West Virginia applied!

We are reaching out to members of the band community who are in contact with outstanding student band/guard members to see if they have any recommendations. Specifically, we can accept nominations for drumline, trumpets, trombones, baritones, mellophones, and sousaphones. We also still need a dance member.

Please let us know if you have an outstanding student(s) that you would like to nominate to be a member of the band or in the complimenting dance/flag corp. We will send them a letter of invitation and waive the application tape/video based on your recommendation as a student who would proudly represent your state in an honor band like this.

DEADLINE TO APPLY IS OCTOBER 1ST. PLEASE CONTACT OUR OFFICE ASAP IF YOU HAVE A STUDENT TO NOMINATE.

The 200+ musicians, under the direction of Dr. Jon Woods, Ohio State University and Auburn University's Dr. Richard Good, will be complemented by approximately 50 flags and dancers choreographed by Mr. Greg Lagola of the famed Cadets Drum Corp of Pennsylvania. The eligible students must be enrolled freshmen to senior (9th-12th grade) high school students during the 2007-2008 school year.

During the musicians' time in New York they will have the opportunity to attend workshops led by Scott Lang, founder of Scott Lang Leadership Endeavors. The workshops will focus on leadership and encourage students to achieve their maximum potential.

In addition to marching in the parade, all selected participants' package plans will include meals, lodging and New York City sightseeing guided city tour, TOP of the ROCK, Thanksgiving dinner dance and Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

We really hope you can help us because we would hate for West Virginia to be the only state not represented in the Band. For an application and/or for more information about this opportunity please contact MUSIC FESTIVALS at 1-800-545-0935 ext. 150.
