The 2012 West Virginia Music Educators Conference will be held March 15-17 at the Waterfront Place Hotel and Conference Center and on the campus of West Virginia University in Morgantown.
Music is often referred to as a “creative art,” but how well do we address creativity in the music classroom? Are our classrooms focused only on performance, to the exclusion of improvisation, arranging and composing? How can we maximize our student’s potential to be creative musicians? In addition to sessions for band, chorus, general music and orchestra, this year’s conference will feature a strand dedicated to the subject of teaching creativity in the music classroom.
